Corporate Row

Goring Gap Boat Club has run a number of highly successfully Corporate Rowing days - a great way to reward your staff, enjoy the river, and help build great teamwork. Rowing is an excellent way to bring both men and women, old and young together in a common pursuit. At beginners level fitness and strength are far less important than technique....so it's a great leveller.

Our courses are customised for your specific needs be it an afternoon 'Rowing Experience' or a fully fledged 2 day 'Learn2Row' course.

We've hosted companies from both the UK and Europe with numbers ranging from 8 up to 30+ - All have been very positive about the course.

Quotes from previous courses:

"The two days were thoroughly enjoyed by all of us who took part and we will whole-heartedly recommend the event to other franchises within J&J"

"Thank you and your volunteers for a great evening of rowing. Everyone enjoyed what for them was a unique experience which gave us a great opportunity to learn new skills and bond as a team. The feedback from everyone has been positive , with some considering taking up this sport."

"We have had such a good laugh and are still talking about the day. We would all like to say thank you for the organising you and your team did on the day. Everything ran smoothly all day and we all had a really good time (especially the winning team). Team building

Team Building is one of the key elements of business..... and of rowing. It's one of the many reasons that rowing has such a high profile in the public school system in the UK.

Everyone needs to concentrate and focus on the task in hand.....it's not easy! Each person plays a vital part in the success of the crew ..... balance, timing, technique and physical exertion are all key elements - it's a demanding sport both physically and mentally.

Those who can pull hardest are often the ones who upset the boat - it's about control and technique rather than brute force. Women's crews often have more poise and balance....leading to a much faster boat.

We encourage crews to discuss their progress, deal with the problems and work together to reach their goals.

Rowing is a competitive sport - we do our very best to get our crews racing by the end of the course.

Customised Courses

GGBC Corporate Courses cover all the rowing basics:

  • safety instruction

Equipment & Staff

The club has some excellent boats in which to learn to row. For those with limited time we use our eights and octuples - these are fine racing shells.

For those who opt for a 2 day course we advise taking to the water in our fleet of restricted fours - wide stable boats - until you've mastered to basics before moving onto the much faster eights.

Rowing machines (ergos) are a key to learning the basic stroke - we have a large number on site for every course.

All our courses are run by fully qualified coaches. We provide a coach and launch driver, experienced cox (and additional rowers) for each crew ensuring everyone gets encouragement and advice throughout the day.

Wet boathouse and pontoon area

GGBC is a British Rowing accredited Learn2Row club - our course standards meet the exacting requirements of the UK Rowing governing body.

Prior to the course each participant is sent a Learn2Row handbook covering all the rowing basics - rowing terminology, safety, what to wear etc.
